Wow! An Unexpected Affair is the fabulous debut novella by up and coming new paranormal author Lorlei Moone and I must say, I'm thoroughly impressed. I would never have guessed that this was Moone's very first release. Although this release is the first book in Moone's Scottish Werebear Series, it is a standalone read and the couple do get their very sweet happy ending. No spoilers from me but I have a feeling that we'll see more of Clarice and Derek in the second book. The story is fast-paced but comfortable, well crafted and held my attention. The narrative is well written in the third person with alternating his and her points of view. The dialogue is smart, well executed and flows beautifully. The entire book is exceptionally well constructed, formatted and edited. It is always such a pleasure to read a book that is so well done. I found the characters to be very engaging and was able to connect with them immediately. Moone skillfully combines these elements into a captivating, easy to follow paranormal tale filled with adventure, heartbreaking angst and a large helping of sweet romance. I loved everything about this story and would definitely recommend it to anyone that loves paranormal romance. I very much look forward to reading the second book in this series.
Beautiful, curvaceous Clarice Adler is fighting the clock and losing the battle. When his beautiful new tenant, Clarice Adler, shows up, his whole life changes in an instant. I received this ARC for an honest review and have to say I really enjoyed reading it from cover to cover lol.
Derek McMillan is a were bear and lives on a farm. He rents out cottages to help with the funding of the farm. His usual clientele are families and older women and men who are just looking to get away and have some quiet time. He rents a cottage for a month to a English lady, who is positive is at least 60 and needing some real quiet time. Imagine the surprise when his guest arrives and shatters his record for figuring out who and what they are and look like before he ever sees them.
Claire is a 30 something historical romance writer who has a deadline to meet and has decided to spend it in seclusion on the Isle of Sky at Moss Cottage. She arrives and meets the farmer/owner of Moss Cottage and is immediately drawn to this gorgeous man who she immediately assumes is married and he does not correct the assumption.
Poor Derek does everything he can to stay away from her even though he figures out that she is his mate. This is a good read cause there is more to the book then just these two.

Very oddly worded sentences.
So slow moving, I'd rather stand in front of my freezer and watch ice melt. That would have more action than this story.
Enormous amount of unnecessary and BORING information.
Ninety percent of this story she has been in her cabin working on writing a book. NOTHING has happened.
When there finally is a little bit of action, it's so not hot, nor steamy, nor anything, I thought for a minute it was young adult. Who knows, maybe it is. But if I gave my daughter this book to read, she would laugh her butt off and throw it back at me.

Woman goes to an island for two weeks to get away and finish a book to meet her deadline. She stays at a place ran by a guy, whom thinks based on her name alone is an older woman wanting to vacation at a place that is like something from her youth. I thought, hey "Werebears, that sounds interesting" so I grab the book and dive right in finding the book is more on the main character Clarice than on Werebear that it is suppose to be about. This is suppose to be a romance novel and there is no romance. The guy dose not pursue the woman, unless him leaving food based gifts on her front porch like a stalker is suppose to be considered romance, than okay. So we get through the whole non interaction only to end up with the two in a cheesy love scene that is almost laughable. I really cannot recommend this book.
