Norman jumps right into it. You quickly learn, relate, and know the characters and are committed to them. Then without knowing what exactly happens, he is able to paint a true picture of the beginning of the end. A different, more realistic approach to an apocalypse survival book. Looking forward to the next book.
I enjoyed this book. Takes a different view of the result of an EMP which was good but I wish the story got a little further along. Looking forward to seeing what happens to mom and dad and their daughter and her friend. Waiting on volume two!
The overall story was strong and interesting. Characters showed promise to develop more as the story continues. I liked how they did not immediately know what was going on and how they were not prepared. The second book should be even better.
I just reread this book (it had been a while) in anticipation of the second in the series. Its a mellow read, without very much in the way of suspense, the characters are likeable, and it has a decent storyline.
I cannot believe you ended it without letting us know where Holly and Garret made landfall....how could you do that. Now I have to suffer till the next one comes out. Please don't let it take long....I can tell all you others out there this was an absolute mind gripping story. I read it all the way through without even a Cheerwine break.... Hurry hurry hurry
It had an interesting premise, but no execution. The boat plot is unrealistic, and the story of the daughter in NYC just goes around in circles.
Very exciting book! I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book to be published. The realization that something similar could actually happen, is surreal.
